FSDEA contributes to High-Level Dialogue on Infrastructure Financing
As part of the summit’s emphasis on innovative financing mechanisms for Africa’s development, Dr. Armando Manuel, Chairman of FSDEA, participated in the High-Level Dialogue: Unlocking Capital for Africa’s Infrastructure Through Innovative Financing, moderated by Richard Quest of CNN. The session featured a distinguished panel including Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina (President, African Development Bank), Boitumelo Mosako (CEO, DBSA) and Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi (CEO, Masdar).
The discussion centred on Africa50’s asset recycling model, highlighting its application through a case study on the Senegambia Bridge, and exploring broader opportunities to scale this approach across the continent. Through the exchange of best practices, the panel encouraged governments, sovereign entities, and infrastructure authorities to adopt asset recycling as a tool to accelerate sustainable infrastructure development.
In his intervention, Dr. Manuel also underscored the importance of tokenization of mineral projects as an emerging avenue to attract institutional and retail investment into Africa’s resource-rich economies. By leveraging blockchain technology, tokenization can democratise access to capital markets, enhance transparency, and unlock liquidity for large-scale mining infrastructure, while ensuring compliance with global ESG standards.
